Why football?
Football is not just a sport but a national passion in Iraq. The whole country united in celebration when Iraq won the Asian Cup football championship in 2007. Training children to play better football brings them together, builds their confidence and self-esteem and creates potential football stars who in turn can pass on precious knowledge and skills to future generations of players.

How does it work?
Football for Change sets up four-week intensive football summer schools, training coaches and young people in local communities in Baghdad, Amara, Najaf, Fallujah and Irbil. The aim is to spread grassroots community football throughout Iraq and provide an opportunity for coaches to work together, creating a solid network and constantly improving the quality of the players.

What are our goals?
Football for Change wants to develop a network of football training facilities across Iraq that will provide young people with recreation while promoting excellence in the sport. This nation-wide resource will aim to encourage unity and understanding across all communities and promote national pride throughout Iraq.
